New proposals from Turkish Cypriot side

TRNC Presidency Spokesperson Hasan Ercak?ca stated that TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat submitted to the UN Secretary General’s Undersecretary for Political Affairs Ibrahim Gambari, a letter addressed to the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, in which he proposed confidence-building measures.

Making a press statement following the Talat-Gambari meeting at the Presidential palace, Hasan Ercak?ca said “at the meeting it was stated that we were ready to work for finding a comprehensive solution for the Cyprus problem on the basis of the Annan Plan and with the negotiations under the supervision of the UN.”

Ercak?ca emphasized that Talat also made a new proposal about the beginning of the negotiations by the two parties.
