The opening of Lokmaci check-point gate
During the course of the last few days, president of TRNC Mehmet Ali Talat together with the prime minister Ferdi Sabit Soejrom, members of the Cabinet and general-major Tevfika Ezkylycha had visited the area of Lokaci where the check-point gate has been closed since 1958 but will soon be re-opened. Mehmet Ali Talat had greeted the militaries there and had declared that the opening of this check point at the heart of Nicosia is necessary for the creation of an atmosphere of stability and an establishment of contact between both parties of the divided Cyprus which in turn is vital for the maintenance of peace on the island.
During his visit the president had also answered questions posed by the reporters.
